Ingredients:

  • 3 potatoes
  • 2 cups of water
  • 200 ml (about 6.8 oz) of hot potato broth
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 12 grams (about 0.42 oz) of dry yeast
  • 550 – 600 grams (about 19.4 – 21.2 oz) of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Filling Ingredients:

  • Ground beef (500 grams or about 17.6 oz)
  • Salt and seasonings to taste
  • 50 ml (about 1.7 oz) of boiling water
  • 1 onion

Instructions:

  1. Cut the 3 potatoes into cubes and place them in 2 cups of water. Cook until they are soft.
  2. Mash the potatoes until you get a puree.
  3. In a bowl, mix 200 ml (about 6.8 oz) of hot water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 egg, and 12 grams (about 0.42 oz) of dry yeast. Stir well.
  4. Gradually add 550-600 grams (about 19.4 – 21.2 oz) of flour and stir until it’s no longer possible to mix with a spoon; then, continue mixing with your hands.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and continue kneading the dough. Let it rest for 40 minutes.
  6. Grate 1 onion and mix it with 500 grams (about 17.6 oz) of ground beef, adjusting the salt and seasonings to taste.
  7. Add 50 ml (about 1.7 oz) of boiling water to the meat and onion mixture. Stir well and cook for 10 minutes.
  8. Shape the potato dough into small round portions; then, flatten the dough and stuff it with the meat mixture.
  9. Close the dough, forming balls similar to small croquettes. Then, sprinkle a little flour on top and gently press to keep the dough closed.
  10. Let them rest for another 10 minutes.
  11. Fry over low heat until golden brown on both sides (deep frying in oil works best).
