Ingredients:
- 1 cup of water (200 ml / 6.76 fl oz)
- 9.17 oz (260 g) of butter
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour (4.94 oz / 140 g)
- 6 eggs
- 4.23 oz (120 g) of sugar
- 2.12 oz (60 g) of cornstarch
- 2.11 cups (500 ml / 16.91 fl oz) of milk
- 0.18 oz (5 g) of vanilla sugar
Instructions:
- Prepare the dough: In a saucepan, heat the water with a pinch of salt and 3.53 oz (100 g) of butter until it boils. Then, add the flour all at once and mix well until a homogeneous dough forms.
- Let the dough cool slightly.
- For the cream: In a container, add 2 eggs and the sugar; mix well.
- Add the cornstarch and milk and mix.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it boils and thickens. Then, remove from the heat, reserve, and let cool.
- To the dough, add 4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each egg.
- Place half of the dough in a greased 7-inch (18 cm) pan and bake in a preheated oven at 392°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, until golden.
- Repeat the baking process with the other half of the dough.
- While the second cake bakes, add 5.64 oz (160 g) of butter to the cream and beat with a mixer.
- Add the vanilla sugar and mix.
- Assembly: Spread the cream over the first baked cake and cover with the second cake.
- Leave the cake in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- Sprinkle a little sugar to finish.
