  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar (200 grams / 7 oz)
  • 1 cup of milk (240 ml / 8 oz)
  • 100 ml of vegetable oil (3.4 oz)
  • 350 grams of all-purpose flour (2 and 3/4 cups / 12.3 oz)
  • 10 grams of baking powder (2 teaspoons / 0.35 oz)
  • 1 gram of vanilla extract (1/4 teaspoon / 0.04 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (0.5 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of water (30 ml / 1 oz)
  • Butter


  1. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you get a light mixture.
  2. Add the milk and vegetable oil to the egg mixture, stirring until incorporated.
  3. Add the sifted flour, baking powder, and vanilla to the liquid mixture, stirring until you get a homogeneous batter.
  4. Divide the batter into two equal parts.
  5. In one part of the batter, mix the cocoa powder with the two tablespoons of water until you get a paste.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease and flour a 10-11 inch (26-28 cm) diameter pan.
  7. Pour the two batters into the pan, each on one side, to form a half-and-half cake.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool before removing from the pan.
