  • 16.9 fl oz (500 ml) milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 2.8 oz (80 g) mascarpone or cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 4.2 oz (120 g) sugar
  • Lemon zest
  • 11.3 oz (320 g) flour
  • 0.2 oz (6 g) baking powder
  • 4.9 oz (140 g) butter


  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together the milk, 2 eggs, cornstarch, and 6 tablespoons of sugar until thickened.
  2. Remove from heat and add the mascarpone (or cream cheese) and lemon juice, stirring well.
  3. In another bowl, combine 1 egg, 4.2 oz (120 g) sugar, flour, lemon zest, baking powder, and butter, mixing until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Pour the batter into a 10-inch (26 cm) cake pan and poke a few holes with a fork. Then pour the cream mixture over the top.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) for approximately 35 minutes.
  6. Once baked, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
