  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (200g) powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 100g softened butter
  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

For the filling:

  • Dulce de leche


  1. In a large bowl, crack the egg and add powdered sugar, salt, vegetable oil, and cinnamon (if using). Mix well until smooth.
  2. Add the softened butter to the mixture and continue mixing.
  3. Gradually add sifted flour and baking powder, mixing until incorporated.
  4. Add the remaining flour and quickly knead until a homogeneous dough forms.
  5. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into balls slightly smaller than a walnut. With this amount of dough, you should get approximately 30 balls.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and cut each ball in half.
  8. Place the halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. With your hands, lightly shape the edges of the halves to form the shape of a nut.
  10. Use a wooden skewer to mark the center and create the characteristic grooves of walnut shells.
  11. Cover again with plastic wrap and return to the refrigerator for another 10-15 minutes.
  12. Once chilled, bake the halves in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 10-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  13. For the filling, use dulce de leche or boil sweetened condensed milk in a pressure cooker to fill one half of a nut, cover with the other half, and lightly press to seal.
  14. If desired, add chopped nuts to the filling.
  15. Dust lightly with powdered sugar.
