Orange Melt-in-Your-Mouth Cookies

  • 1 orange 🍊
  • 3.5 oz (100g) butter (4 tablespoons)
  • 3.5 oz (100g) sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 1 egg
  • Orange zest
  • Juice of half an orange
  • 7-8 oz (200-250g) all-purpose flour (1 1/2 to 2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Vanilla powdered sugar for dusting


  1. Peel and chop 1 orange into small pieces, removing any seeds.
  2. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter with 1 tablespoon of sugar until it forms a light caramel.
  3. Add the chopped orange pieces and fry until lightly golden.
  4. In another bowl, mix 1 egg with 1/4 cup (50g) sugar.
  5. Add orange zest.
  6. Add juice of half an orange and 3.5 oz (100g) melted butter, and mix well.
  7. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, stirring, until a soft dough forms that doesn’t stick to your hands. Adjust flour amount if needed.
  8. Add baking powder and mix gently.
  9. Roll out the dough and cut into your preferred cookie shapes.
  10. Add the fried orange to each cookie, close the dough, and place on a baking sheet.
  11. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden and firm to the touch.
  12. Let cool slightly, then dust with vanilla powdered sugar before serving.
