  • 250g (8.8 oz) all-purpose flour
  • 180ml (6.1 fl oz) milk
  • 7g (0.25 oz) active dry yeast
  • 130g (4.6 oz) sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 10g (0.35 oz) baking powder
  • 110g (3.9 oz) butter
  • 200ml (6.8 fl oz) heavy cream


  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, milk, active dry yeast, and 60g (2.1 oz) of sugar.
  2. Whisk the egg and baking powder until thick.
  3. Add to the bowl and mix until a homogeneous batter forms.
  4. Add 50g (1.8 oz) of room temperature butter and mix.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased pan and spread evenly.
  6. Cover the batter and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Cut 60g (2.1 oz) of butter into cubes.
  8. Poke holes in the batter with your finger and place the butter cubes in these holes.
  9. Sprinkle 70g (2.5 oz) of sugar over the batter.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven and brush with the heavy cream.
  12. Bake for an additional 10 minutes at 180°C (356°F).
  13. Remove from the oven, let it cool, and serve.
