Ingredients:
Cake:
- 1 egg
- 80 g (2.8 oz) sugar
- Vanilla essence, to taste
- 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) oil
- 50 g (1.8 oz) softened butter
- 250 g (8.8 oz) flour
- 10 g (0.35 oz) baking powder
Chocolate Cream:
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 400 ml (13.5 fl oz) milk
- 100 g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate bar
- 200 ml (6.8 fl oz) cream
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together the egg, sugar, vanilla essence, oil, and softened butter.
- Add the flour and baking powder, mixing until you get a smooth batter.
- Let the batter rest for a few minutes while you prepare the chocolate cream.
Making the Chocolate Cream:
- In a saucepan, whisk together the egg, sugar, and cornstarch.
- Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens into a custard-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate bar, stirring until completely melted.
- Add the cream and mix well until smooth.
Assembly:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Divide the cake batter into 2 portions.
- In a greased baking dish, spread half of the batter evenly as if making a crust, pressing firmly with your hands.
- Spread the chocolate cream evenly over the batter.
- Cover with the remaining batter, grating the batter or simply covering it.
- Optionally, add more pieces of chocolate on top of the batter.
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown.
