  • 5 eggs
  • 125g (4.4 oz) margarine
  • 125g (4.4 oz) grated cheese (aged or farmer’s cheese)
  • 25g (0.9 oz) baking powder
  • 600g (21.2 oz) all-purpose flour
  • 250g (8.8 oz) granulated sugar (for syrup)
  • Granulated sugar (for dusting)
  • Grated farmer’s cheese (for dusting)


  1. In a stand mixer, combine eggs, margarine, granulated sugar, grated cheese, and baking powder.
  2. Gradually add the flour, mixing well until you get a homogeneous dough.
  3. The dough should reach a point where it starts to come off the sides of the bowl.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and shape the donuts.
  5. Bake the donuts in a preheated oven at 220°C (425°F) for about 12 minutes.
  6. While the donuts bake, prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, boil 750ml (25.4 fl oz) of water with 250g (8.8 oz) of granulated sugar until it forms a syrup.
  7. Once baked, dip the donuts in the syrup and then roll them in a mixture of granulated sugar and grated cheese.
  8. Allow the donuts to dry and they are ready to serve.”
