Vanilla Cream Buns

Vanilla cream buns are a delicious combination of a soft, slightly sweet dough with a creamy vanilla filling. Vanilla Cream Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk (8.8 oz)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter (0.7 oz)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup of sugar (1.8 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (0.7 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Dough Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour (7 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar (0.9 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon of instant yeast (0.1 oz)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup of warm milk (3.5 oz)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter (0.7 oz)

Vanilla Cream Preparation:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the milk until it starts to boil.
  2. In a bowl, mix the egg yolks with the sugar and cornstarch until you get a smooth cream.
  3. Gradually add the hot milk to the egg yolk mixture, stirring constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the butter and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  6. Let it cool and set aside.

Dough Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add the egg yolk and warm milk, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until it is somewhat smooth.
  4. Add the butter and continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Shape the pieces into small balls and let them rest for another 30-40 minutes or until they double in size.
  7. Flatten the balls and add the cream, then seal the edges well.
  8. In a skillet, cook over low heat for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
